Important notice
2. Categories of Cookies We Use
We classify cookies into four categories based on their purpose:
(a) Strictly Necessary Cookies (always active)
These cookies are essential for the Service to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as logging in, filling in forms, or setting privacy preferences.
Examples:
- Session cookies that keep you signed in
- Security cookies that protect against cross-site request forgery
- Load balancing cookies that route your traffic efficiently
- Cookie consent storage that remembers your preference choice
Legal basis: legitimate interest (these cookies do not require consent under UK and EU law).
(b) Functional Cookies (optional, require consent)
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization. If you disable them, some features may not work as expected.
Examples:
- Remembering your preferred units (metric or imperial)
- Remembering your last selected fishing spot
- Remembering interface preferences (language, theme)
Legal basis: consent.
(c) Analytics Cookies (optional, require consent)
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Service so we can improve it. The data collected is aggregated and, where possible, anonymized.
Examples:
- Page views, session duration, and navigation paths
- Feature usage statistics
- Error and performance monitoring
We use privacy-respecting analytics providers. We do not use analytics cookies to build advertising profiles or share data with advertising networks.
Legal basis: consent.
(d) Marketing Cookies (optional, require consent)
We currently do not use marketing or advertising cookies on the Service. If this changes in the future, we will update this Policy and request your consent before enabling them.
4. How We Use Cookie Data
Information collected by cookies is used to:
- Authenticate users and prevent unauthorized account access
- Maintain session state during your visit
- Remember your preferences and settings
- Understand how the Service is used and identify areas for improvement
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations
We do not use cookies to:
- Build advertising profiles
- Sell or share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising
- Track you across third-party websites
5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have several ways to control cookies:
(a) Cookie consent banner
When you first visit anglerly.app, you will see a cookie consent banner allowing you to:
- Accept all cookies
- Reject all non-essential cookies
- Customize your preferences by category
You can change your choices at any time by clicking the "Manage cookies" link in our website footer.
(b) Browser settings
Most browsers allow you to block, delete, or be notified when cookies are set. The exact method depends on your browser. See:
- Chrome:
chrome://settings/cookies - Firefox:
about:preferences#privacy - Safari: Preferences > Privacy
- Edge:
edge://settings/content/cookies
Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies through your browser may prevent the Service from working correctly.
(c) Mobile devices
On iOS and Android, you can reset or limit advertising identifiers through your device settings:
- iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking
- Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads
(d) Opt-out tools
For analytics opt-out, you can use tools such as the EDAA Your Online Choices tool (youronlinechoices.eu) or the DAA WebChoices tool (optout.aboutads.info), where applicable.
6. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is currently no industry-standard interpretation of DNT signals. We honor the cookie preferences you set through our consent banner, which is the most reliable way to control cookies on Anglerly. We do not respond differently to DNT browser signals beyond our standard cookie consent process.
7. Global Privacy Control (GPC)
For users in California and other jurisdictions where it applies, we recognize the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out request for the sale or sharing of personal information. As stated in our Privacy Policy, Anglerly does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so this signal does not change our existing practices, but we acknowledge and respect it.
8. Consequences of Disabling Cookies
If you choose to reject or disable certain cookies, your experience with the Service may be affected:
- Disabling strictly necessary cookies: the Service will not function. You will not be able to sign in or use core features.
- Disabling functional cookies: your preferences will not be remembered between sessions, and personalization will not work.
- Disabling analytics cookies: no impact on functionality. We will simply have less aggregated data to improve the Service.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly use cookies to collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has used the Service, contact legal@anglerly.app.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, our practices, or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email.
If we begin using new categories of cookies (such as marketing or advertising cookies), we will request fresh consent before activating them.
