A note on this Policy
1. Scope of This Policy
This AUP applies to all users of the Service, including free users, paid subscribers, and visitors to the website. It covers:
- How you behave on the Service
- Content you upload, share, or publish (catch photos, notes, comments, profile information, location pins, etc.)
- How you interact with other users in community features
- How you interact with the Service infrastructure
If you observe behavior that violates this Policy, please report it to support@anglerly.app.
2. Prohibited Activities
You agree NOT to use the Service to:
(a) Violate laws and regulations
- Engage in any activity that violates applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights in your jurisdiction or the jurisdictions where your activity has effects
- Promote, facilitate, or encourage illegal fishing, including violation of catch limits, protected species rules, closed-season restrictions, or licensing requirements
- Falsify catch records for the purpose of evading regulations or winning competitions you are not entitled to enter
(b) Harm other people
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or bully any person
- Post hateful, discriminatory, or violent content targeting any individual or group based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Share personal information (including names, addresses, phone numbers, or precise locations) of any individual without their explicit consent
- Impersonate any person, brand, organization, or government entity
(c) Upload prohibited content
- Content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit
- Content depicting cruelty to animals beyond what is reasonably associated with legal sport fishing
- Content that infringes the intellectual property rights of others (including copyrighted photos, logos, or text)
- Spam, advertising, or promotional content for unrelated products or services
- Misleading or fraudulent content, including manipulated photos presented as authentic catches
- Malware, viruses, or any code intended to disrupt or damage software, hardware, or data
(d) Interfere with the Service
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service, other user accounts, or our infrastructure
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system without our written permission
- Bypass, disable, or interfere with security or authentication features
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service or extract data, except for publicly available content accessed in compliance with our
robots.txt - Send excessive requests intended to overload or degrade the Service (denial-of-service style behavior)
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service except where permitted by law
(e) Misuse the Service commercially
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit access to the Service without our written agreement
- Use the Service to operate a competing product
- Scrape or republish forecast data, tide tables, or other proprietary content for commercial purposes
(f) Abuse account and payment systems
- Create multiple accounts to abuse promotional offers (such as the Try It Out introductory rate)
- Use stolen, fraudulent, or unauthorized payment methods
- File chargebacks for legitimate charges without first attempting to resolve the issue with our support team
- Share your account credentials with others or allow multiple people to use a single account beyond personal household use
(g) Misrepresent yourself or your activity
- Provide false information when creating an account or making a purchase
- Manipulate community features through fake accounts, fake catches, or coordinated voting
- Misrepresent the date, location, or species of a catch
3. Safety and Real-World Conduct
Anglerly provides forecasts and information to support recreational fishing. You are responsible for your own safety and legal compliance when fishing in the real world:
- Always follow local fishing regulations, licensing requirements, and conservation rules
- Practice ethical catch-and-release where appropriate
- Respect protected species, marine sanctuaries, and seasonal closures
- Observe water safety rules, including weather warnings, life jacket requirements, and navigation rules
- Do not rely solely on Anglerly forecasts for safety-critical decisions (such as deciding whether to launch a boat in marginal weather). Always cross-check with official maritime and weather authorities

4. Community Features
If you choose to use community features (such as sharing catches publicly or interacting with other anglers):
- Be respectful. Disagreements happen, but personal attacks are not acceptable.
- Do not share precise GPS coordinates of sensitive or protected locations without consideration of conservation impact.
- Do not solicit other users for unrelated commercial purposes.
- Do not impersonate other anglers, public figures, or staff.
- Use the report feature to flag content or behavior that violates this Policy.
We do not pre-moderate community content. We review reports and take action where appropriate.
5. Intellectual Property of Others
Anglerly respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same:
- Do not upload photos, videos, text, or other content you do not have the right to use
- Do not use trademarks, logos, or brand names without authorization
- If you believe content on the Service infringes your intellectual property rights, send a notice to legal@anglerly.app with:
- A description of the copyrighted work or other right
- The location of the allegedly infringing material on the Service
- Your contact information
- A statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized
- A statement that the information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on their behalf
- Your physical or electronic signature
We will review valid notices and take appropriate action, which may include removing the content and notifying the user who uploaded it.
6. Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or behavior that violates this Policy, please report it to support@anglerly.app with:
- Description of the issue
- Location of the content on the Service (URL, screenshot, or username)
- Your account email so we can follow up
We aim to acknowledge reports within 2 business days. Investigations may take longer depending on complexity.
We do not tolerate retaliation against users who report violations in good faith. Bad-faith reports made to harass other users may themselves be treated as a violation of this Policy.
7. Enforcement
When we identify a violation of this Policy, we may take one or more of the following actions, at our sole discretion:
- Issue a warning
- Remove or restrict access to specific content
- Limit access to certain features
- Temporarily suspend the account
- Permanently terminate the account
- Refuse refunds for terminated accounts where the termination is due to violation of this Policy or our Terms
- Report the conduct to law enforcement or other authorities, where required by law or where the conduct involves serious harm
- Pursue legal remedies, including damages and injunctive relief
The severity of our response depends on factors including the nature of the violation, prior history, and risk to other users.
8. Appeals
If your account is suspended or terminated and you believe the action was a mistake, you can appeal by emailing support@anglerly.app within 30 days of the action. Your appeal should include:
- Your account email
- The date of the action
- An explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect
- Any supporting context or evidence
We will review appeals in good faith and respond within 14 business days. Our decision on appeal is final, subject to your statutory consumer rights.
9. Cooperation with Authorities
We may cooperate with law enforcement, regulators, and other authorities where:
- Required by law, court order, or valid legal process
- Necessary to investigate suspected fraud, abuse, or illegal activity
- Necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of SYNCWAVE LTD, our users, or others
When we share information with authorities, we follow the principles set out in our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time to address new types of misuse, changes in the Service, or changes in applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by email or through the Service at least 14 days before they take effect.
11. Relationship to Other Documents
This AUP is part of our Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict between this AUP and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service prevail unless the AUP is more restrictive, in which case the AUP applies.
This AUP also works alongside our:
- Privacy Policy (how we collect and use your data)
- Refund Policy (how refunds are handled, including for accounts terminated for AUP violations)
- Subscription Terms (how paid plans work)
- Cookie Policy (how we use cookies and similar technologies)
